Amber was out server and we loved her! Our food was amazing, the service was spectacular. They are extremely accommodating for gluten free as all of their sauces are made gluten free in house! Huge win. And we had a group of 9 and it was perfect!

Food was great! We got the pork gyoza and sushi! Our drinks were very good too. Our server Ana was very sweet and tentative. She gave us great recommendations and all tasted great! We ate inside which was nice, but the outdoor seating also has a great view of downtown!

I thought it was unbelievable that this place had 5 stars, so I had to check it out. I genuinely don’t have a single complaint. I was greeted and seated immediately. I requested to be at the bar, and the restaurant was very empty. More people should definitely try this restaurant. Everyone was so attentive to me, which was extra lovely because it was my birthday. Justin, my server, did not miss with his awesome recommendations. Chef/Manager Allen was very informative and kind, too. Everything I had was so delicious and flavorful. I really don’t think you’ll go wrong with anything here. It is a bit expensive, but if you can afford it, I would 10 out of 10 recommend it.

Words fall short in expressing just how phenomenal this restaurant is. We come from the Bay Area and Los Angeles (California) originally, and it makes it very challenging to enjoy sushi anywhere else in the states. Kurokoi measures up to the best we have had. The freshness of the fish and the fusion of flavors by the chef created menu are IMPECCABLE. I’m a sashimi person because I am looking for the quality of the fish and don’t care for the mash up of extras but this is the rare exception. The rolls are amazing. Absolutely amazing and STILL highlight the integrity of the fish. They serve you each dish as it is ready, meaning when it is FRESHEST. I have seen reviews on here misunderstanding this and complaining about who gets what first. But trust me, this is the right (and in my opinion, the ONLY) way to eat sushi. Get a couple of things to share so everyone can eat together in the beginning and then trust the process and let them *wow* you with an experience you won’t get anywhere else in GA. Justin was awesome! He made great suggestions that got us out of our comfort zone so we could really experience what Kurokoi had to offer. As for the pricing, you get what you pay for. Here you are paying for the best. You’re paying for top tier fish curated by a top tier chef. If you’re on a budget, it’s definitely the place worth saving for. Run, don’t walk. You won’t regret it.

I have never dined at a restaurant with a perfect 5.0 score on Google, and I simply had to experience it myself. The rating is definitely every bit deserved. Extremely kind service, very accommodating with modifications to the food for allergen concerns too! Their unique and flavorful recipes wowed us all, and the presentation was always a treat too. Extra thanks to Amber for making our night so special!

I went at around 6PM on a Monday evening. The service was awesome, there wasn't too much of a wait, it wasn't very crowded, and it was quiet. The atmosphere was nice and cozy, lighting was soft. They had soft music playing. I had one concern: The windows were shaded, so from outside, it looked like they were closed. I say this in case others see that and think the same: check if they're open just in case. As for the food, I did dock a star (I would've done a half star if I could, because it wasn't BAD, but unfortunately google reviews has something against half points...). I got the shrimp tempura roll because I'm on a sort of quest to find the best shrimp tempura sushi roll in the Blue Ridge area. Kurokoi is currently tied for 2nd on my list of 4, so it's not the worst, but it's also not the best. I noticed that they had the same price as Kizuna ($12 per roll), so I was hoping that they would be better than Tin Loong, ($9 per roll), and unfortunately they weren't better, they were on par with Tin Loong in terms of flavour, though the ingredient quality was slightly better. So, if you're looking for that particular dish for a cheaper price and still great quality, I'd recommend going to Teppanyaki Time or Tin Loong. Kurokoi seemed focused on quality, which I liked, but for some, it's not as important as flavour or price. This is JUST about the shrimp tempura roll, though, so do not use this as a reference point. If you'd like to go, please go and see for yourself, because I haven't tried their other food, and I would 100% recommend Kurokoi's roll, but since there are other places that sell tempura shrimp sushi rolls with a better taste and a cheaper price, I still would recommend Teppanyaki Time or Tin Loong for that particular roll. That said, though, I must praise their use of ingredients. I could taste and feel the quality. The avocado was rich and fleshy, the cucumber was fresh and crunchy, the shrimp was crispy and, well... Shrimpy! Also, I hate sesame seeds, they usually add a terrible texture to the sushi, BUT this time, they tied it all together, which was AWESOME! I think that part of my problem was that I got to-go while I went to go pick up my sister-in-law, so I didn't eat it fresh. I wish I had been able to eat it while it was still fresh, and I would try it again to see if it's better fresh. Think of this review as a bad first impression! I think if I gave it a second chance, it might change my opinion on it. All things considered, this wasn't a bad experience, and I would come back, if not for their shrimp tempura sushi roll, then for their lovely environment, and to try something else on their menu. 8/10, would try again! -a local

Fantastic experience! The food is truly next level. You can taste in every bite the quality and authenticity of the ingredients and the skill being executed. Even the rice was noteworthy, so perfectly done. Incredibly fresh and unique features in each dish. Drinks and service were exceptional as well. Our server, Justin, was welcoming and helpful. Update: Have visited four times and have been blown away by the freshness, flavors, and execution every time! Kurokoi is a fantastic experience in every way!

We have been here 3 nights in less than a week. With two nights being back to back. If that doesn’t tell you how good this place is. This is the best sushi/sashimi I have ever had and I travel and consider myself a foodie. It’s so fresh and the chef has curated incredible flavor pairing from his sushi to the sashimi enhancements. I will be here all the time and I’m so happy the Blue Ridge is such a hot spot for great restaurants!
